Ya’ll, I have been waiting for this book from the minute I heard it was coming out….and it’s finally here!!!
First, I have to say that I absolutely love the cover- isn’t it to die for?
Now, let me tell you why you need to read Storm Siren…
#1 The World Building- the author does a fascinating job of creating a setting that is dark, dangerous and just overall awesome! This world was creative and unique to others I have read in the fantasy genre.
#2 The Characters- I was easily able to empathize with Nym from the first few pages of the story. There is something mysteriously beautiful in this character and I don’t want to give too much away here, but she surprised me in so many ways. I love that she is an elemental, this isn’t something I have seen in Christian fantasy very often…if ever. Secondary characters (Eogan, Colin, and Breck) add so much to the story and I was thrilled to get to know each one little by little.
#3 The Overall Message- to me, this story is a wonderful reminder that “to whom much is given, much is required”. As Nym had to learn to hone her powers, she also had to choose to use them for good. While we may not be able to manipulate the weather, God has gifted us with certain traits that we can strengthen and choose to use for the good of others and the glory of God.
Basically, I absolutely loved this debut and I cannot wait for the next installment in the series! If you are a fan of adventure, fantasy, strong characters and wonderful worlds…don’t miss Storm Siren!!!

Mary Weber is a ridiculously uncoordinated girl plotting to take over make-believe worlds through books, handstands, and imaginary throwing knives.
In her spare time, she feeds unicorns, sings 80’s hairband songs to her three muggle children, and ogles her husband who looks strikingly like Wolverine. They live in California, which is perfect for stalking L.A. bands, Joss Whedon, and the ocean.
