Thank You Lord For This Trial

Last night, for the first time, I was able to thank the Lord for allowing this trial to come into our lives. Because I know that He is working out His perfect, glorious plan- I can say…
THANK YOU LORD FOR THIS TRIAL
Because I know He has promised to never leave me or forsake me, I can say…
THANK YOU LORD FOR THIS TRIAL
Because I know that He is working all things together for good for those who love Him, I can say…
THANK YOU LORD FOR THIS TRIAL
Because I know that He will not withhold any good thing from my life, I can say…
THANK YOU LORD FOR THIS TRIAL
Because it has drawn me closer to the heart of God and allowed me to minister to others and so many to minister to me, I can say…
THANK YOU LORD FOR THIS TRIAL
Because it makes absolutely no human sense and causes hell to tremble, I will say…
THANK YOU LORD FOR THIS TRIAL

JoJo’s Journal: Joy in Despair

Events that surprise us do not surprise God because He knows everything.
He is the Beginning and the End.
He is fully available- to guide and comfort us through the trials of life.
Hard times can actually draw us closer to the Lord.
As you face this day, know that He is with you.
This is one way we can truly rejoice in hope, have patience through out trials and be ever ready to talk to our Savior.
He is the One Who enables us to have joy even in despair.

Trust My Heart & Giveaway!

Grant McAllister arrives in Murphy, North Carolina, with one aim: to sell his inherited property and leave as quickly as possible.
The big-city lawyer has no interest in his late, estranged grandparents or the dilapidated mansion he just acquired. After his high-profile divorce, he should be avoiding perky reporters, too. But Jami Carlisle is honest, funny, and undeniably appealing.

After breaking up with her safe-but-smothering boyfriend, Jami is determined to ace her first big assignment. A story about the McAllister estate is too intriguing to ignore—much like its handsome, commitment-phobic heir. Thanks to her digging, the pieces of Grant’s fraught family history are gradually fitting into place, but also upending all his old beliefs.

The two draw closer as they share their dreams, until misread signals and misunderstandings begin to test their trust. But in the unspoiled beauty of the Smoky Mountains, there’s healing and forgiveness to be found. And for Grant, this unplanned detour may be just what’s needed to finally guide him home…

Now she pens fun, fast-paced inspirational romance and romantic suspense stories. Her books have been nominated for an RT Reviewers’ Choice Best Book award and selected as an RT Top Pick. When Carol isn’t writing, she enjoys sailing, hiking, camping—almost anything outdoors. She also plays the piano and sings with her music-minister husband. Their two grown daughters and their grandkids live too far away for her liking, so she now pours all her nurturing into taking care of a fat and sassy black cat and a highly spoiled dachshund.

MY THOUGHTS:

I love this story! I love the characters and the message of forgiveness and faith woven beautifully throughout. This story also has secrets which threaten to destroy lives, but also a message of hope. Jami has been through so much and has set her dreams aside, but believes a new opportunity will bring what she has been longing for. Grant is the perfect balance, but he is dealing with his own issues…I love these characters! This story will touch your heart and make you think about the things that are truly important in life. In Shelley Shepard Gray’s third book in her Charmed Amish Life series, a respectable young woman finds herself falling for an Amish man from the wrong side of the tracks.

Amelia Kinsinger is the perfect Amish woman—at least according to her neighbors. And while Amelia takes pride in her role as homemaker, she’s also harboring a secret: She’s been in love with bad boy Simon Hochstetler for as long as she can remember. Too bad he’s about as far from “perfect” as an Amish man could get… but that’s exactly why she’s so drawn to him.

Life hasn’t been kind to Simon. He ran away from an abusive home at fifteen and things went downhill from there. Eventually, Simon landed in prison. But the experience changed him. Now back in Charm as a grown man, he’s determined to make a new life for himself and not think too much about his wild past…unless it pertains to Amelia.

He’s loved Amelia for years. To him, she represents everything good and kind in the world. When he realizes that she returns his affections, he starts calling on her in secret, even though her older brother Lukas—who just happens to be Simon’s best friend—has made it perfectly clear that Amelia deserves better. Simon disagrees and believes he’s the only one who can truly make her happy.

But when Amelia gets hurt, it sets off a chain of events that forces them to consider their future together—and face their past mistakes. There’s a chance for love… but only if Simon dares to trust Amelia with the secrets of his past.

MY THOUGHTS:

I was so thrilled to be able to review Shelley’s books at JoJo’s Corner, the quality of stories she writes is too notch. I’m never disappointed when I pick up one of her books and I’m happy to say this series has kept me enthralled. I love this latest edition! Though part of a series, you will be able to enjoy this one on its own. I love Amelia and Simon’s story and I know you will too. This is a wonderful story of forgiveness and redemption. I’m sad that this series will be ending soon 😞.

In Shelley Shepard Gray’s fourth book in her Charmed Amish Life series, an unlikely Amish romance reveals that Christmas is a time for family, miracles—and love.

Ever since his father died in a tragic fire, Levi Kinsinger has felt adrift. Newly returned to Charm, Ohio, Levi is trying to fit into his old life, only to discover he seems to have outgrown it.

But when Julia, his young widowed neighbor, asks for his help with a Christmas project, Levi finds a sense of purpose for the first time in months. She and her daughter are new to Charm and could use a friend, a job Levi takes personally. Soon enough, friendship grows into attraction, but Levi can’t help having doubts. There’s something about Julia that doesn’t ring quite true…

Like Levi, Julia Kemps has survived her fair share of hardships—but only by hiding the truth of her past. Being an unmarried mother in an Amish community was unthinkable. Feeling hopeless, Julia did the only thing she could do: she moved to a new town and pretended to be a widow. But meeting Levi, she’s hopeful for the first time. Little by little, she begins to imagine telling him her darkest secret, and eventually…perhaps even sharing her life with him.

Christmas is a time for family, and as the holiday draws closer, Julia and Levi will have to face their pasts together…in order to find the healing, support and love they so desperately desire.

MY THOUGHTS:

I just love Christmas stories and this one really hits the spot. This story takes place in Charm…a place I have grown to love. This is such a sweet story of Christmas, love and healing. Its a story of forgivess and reconciliation. I just love when a story makes me look at my own life and reflect on what’s good and what needs improvement and these characters caused me to do that. Don’t miss this sweet seasonal story!

So, grab your colors and a little quiet time for yourself while doodling at the kitchen table. You will be grateful you did!

Wouldn’t it be marvelous if mothering came with a concrete set of instructions—an easy recipe we could follow? Instead, motherhood challenges women to find their faith, their true selves, and their family through daily doses of trial and error. It is a brilliant and healing time of life that is full of joy, pain, and beauty with a small side of crisis (and humor). What mothers do not know, they learn. And through this lifelong process of learning, they nurture and care for the most precious gifts on earth: children. In a modern society where moms often have a full and busy plate, these 10 minute daily devotions focus on six key topics of motherhood:

—Self-acceptance

—Self-care

—Reconciling with grief, hope and expectations

—Generosity

—Presence

—Forgiveness

In addition to the devotions, these beautiful pages are adorned with handmade illustrations to help you refresh from long days or even occasional sleepless nights. So, grab your colors and a little quiet time for yourself while doodling at the kitchen table. You will be grateful you did!

My Review:

40 Days of Joyful Motherhood is such a fun, creative, relaxing devotional! It is unlike any devotional I’ve experienced, (and I’ve done a lot!)  I loved the beautiful drawings that were fun to color. But don’t think that the author has skimmed on the devotional part. These devotions will speak straight to moms heart…nourishing, refreshing, encouraging and challenging. I absolutely love this devotional! Each day is numbered and begins with a Scripture and ends with a smile prayer. Each day comes with a corresponding color sheet, and some of these are interactive. If you’re a mom who enjoys the new adult coloring books and wants to grow closer to the Lord, 40 Days of Joyful Motherhood is a must!

The 10 Myths of Teen Dating

There’s no greater moment of panic in a parent’s life than when their daughter begins to date.

Due to their lack of knowledge about the world their teens face coupled with the scant dating information they received as teens, many parents feel ill-equipped to guide their daughters through the minefield that is teen dating.

And by the same token, teenage girls crave information about dating and relationships. And left to their own devices, many will develop their own assumptions about dating by talking to their friends or watching the latest TV shows and movies. But that will only lead them down a path toward heartbreak.

So how do you engage your daughter in discussions about dating, relationships, and her future happiness? Expert educator Daniel Anderson and his twenty something daughter, Jacquelyn, help you navigate the biggest dating myths, including: the myth that a boyfriend will make your daughter happy, that she should trust her feelings, or that sex will enhance her relationship. Combining the latest scientific research with poignant personal stories, as well as proven truths and practical application, The 10 Myths of Teen Dating will equip you to teach your daughter how to date smart for today . . . and tomorrow.

Daniel Anderson is a former college All-American basketball player, an expert educator, and a father of two grown daughters and a son. As a veteran high school teacher in the public school system, Daniel was troubled by how his students approached dating and relationships. He and his daughter, Jacquelyn Anderson—a twenty something and also a high school teacher—decided to address this need by equipping parents with “The 10 Myths of Teen Dating,” their first book together. Daniel and Jacquelyn both make their home in Portland, Oregon.

MY THOUGHTS:

Teens today are bombarded with so many mixed messages concerning dating and it is imperative that they know the truth. They can become disillusioned through it all. They need a guide to help them sort through the mess of it all. That’s where The Ten Myths of Teen Dating can help!

This book is the perfect guide for starting conversations about dating. I love that the authors share actual statistics and real life examples. I would recommend this book to all families. Dating is a huge part of teen and young adult life and parents need to prepare to help their teens make wise choices.

Union With Christ

Nothing is more basic or central to knowing and enjoying God than Union with Christ.

Have you ever had difficulty connecting what you know to be true about God with how you feel or how you live each day? Have you ever longed to change but just felt stuck?

The Bible makes a stunning claim: God has provided a way for your life to be united to Christ’s. What does that mean? Is it really possible for me, now? What would it look like?

In Union with Christ, Rankin Wilbourne makes union with Christ accessible and beautiful, for you. Union with Christ is not an abstract idea. It is a powerful reality. And recovering a sense of your union with Christ can change everything for you, like finally putting on a pair of desperately-needed glasses.

Discover how coming to see your life through the lens of union with Christ can help bridge that gap between your head and your heart, between your belief and your experience. Union with Christ is what we most need in order to know and enjoy God.

MY REVIEW:

Union With Christ explores the idea of oneness with Christ. This book is not for the light reader, but for those wanting to dig deep for a better understanding of what unity with Christ is all about. The author keeps readers interested with examples and Scripture. This book is a great conversation starter and would be great for book groups who leave time for discussion. Is oneness with Christ really possible? What would that look like today? Pick up your copy and discover Union With Christ.
