The Bachelor Girl’s Guide to Murder & Giveaway

The Bachelor Girl’s Guide to Murder

In 1910 Toronto, while other bachelor girls perfect their domestic skills and find husbands, two friends perfect their sleuthing skills and find a murderer.

Inspired by their fascination with all things Sherlock Holmes, best friends and flatmates Merinda and Jem launch a consulting detective business. The deaths of young Irish women lead Merinda and Jem deeper into the mire of the city’s underbelly, where the high hopes of those dreaming to make a new life in Canada are met with prejudice and squalor.

While searching for answers, donning disguises, and sneaking around where no proper ladies would ever go, they pair with Jasper Forth, a police constable, and Ray DeLuca, a reporter in whom Jem takes a more than professional interest. Merinda could well be Toronto’s premiere consulting detective, and Jem may just find a way to put her bachelor girlhood behind her forever–if they can stay alive long enough to do so.

God’s Not Dead 2 Giveaway!!!

From the college classroom of GOD’S NOT DEAD to the public square in GOD’S NOT DEAD 2, the name of Jesus is welcomed less and less with each passing day. If Christians don’t take a stand today, will we even have a choice tomorrow? The film takes you back to Hope Springs, home to the University, but also Martin Luther King Jr. High School, where beloved teacher Grace Wesley teaches her passion, history. Her love of teaching, her love for her students, and her love of life all come from the same place: her love of Christ. When a student asks a question regarding Jesus in class, Grace’s answer causes her to face an epic court case, that could expel God from the classroom.
Gov. Mike Huckabee endorsement, “A riveting story, brilliantly told, and one that is absolutely plausible as if it were taken from today’s headlines. A must see for every believer!”

Woooohoooo!!!! I am soooo ready for this movie to release! Who’s with me!?! To celebrate the release, JoJo’s Corner is hosting a giveaway thanks to Grace Hill Media!

Curio by Evangeline Denmark

240_360_book-1802-cover

***Special THANK YOU to BookLook Bloggers for my review copy!***

In this steampunk-flavored YA novel by Evangeline Denmark, Grey has a secret the Chemists who rule her town can never know. But when her best friend is taken for punishment, Grey risks everything—and finds herself in a world hidden within a curio cabinet, where porcelain and clockwork people are real, and her secret has far-reaching consequences.

MY REVIEW

Curio is Steampunk meets Narnia! I absolutely loved this novel! Full of great descriptive details that plunge readers straight into the world of the characters. The heroine, Grey not only has a really cool name, but is a pretty cool character as well. The world she lives in is very structured and very rule driven, but a moment in the story changes Grey’s world forever. Excitement, adventure and danger lurk around every page of this story. I love this story and expect great things from this talent new author.

If I Run FitBit Giveaway!

If I Run

Casey knows the truth. But it won’t set her free.

Casey Cox’s DNA is all over the crime scene. There’s no use talking to police; they have failed her abysmally before. She has to flee before she’s arrested . . . or worse. The truth doesn’t matter anymore.

But what is the truth? That’s the question haunting Dylan Roberts, the war-weary veteran hired to find Casey. PTSD has marked him damaged goods, but bringing Casey back can redeem him. Though the crime scene seems to tell the whole story, details of the murder aren’t adding up. Casey Cox doesn’t fit the profile of a killer. But are Dylan’s skewed perceptions keeping him from being objective? If she isn’t guilty, why did she run?

Unraveling her past and the evidence that condemns her will take more time than he has, but as Dylan’s damaged soul intersects with hers, he is faced with two choices. The girl who occupies his every thought is a psychopathic killer . . . or a selfless hero. And the truth could be the most deadly weapon yet.

My Thoughts:

I absolutely LOVE Terri! Her books always thrill, chill and keep me guessing. If I Run was sooo good I could not stop reading! I LOVED the way this story is told. I love how Terri melds together the lives of the two characters. Can you imagine being wanted for the death of your BF? Wow! This story kept me trying to figure out who was on the side of truth and who was trying to keep the truth from being revealed. If you love well-written suspense, do not miss this! Mary worshiped. Martha served. But what did Lazarus do to experience Jesus’s lavish love?

Filmed in the Holy Land, this DVD companion to Joanna Weaver’s book Lazarus Awakening explores the incredible truth that Jesus loves us apart from our works or our worthiness. He wants to call us out of our tombs and into friendship with Him.

Designed for use with the book and companion study guide, this three-disc DVD Bible study is formatted for both individual and group use, with content suitable for both men and women.
·         In-depth Bible study: Features eight 15- to 17-minute video sessions.
·         Bonus “Israel Moment” videos explore the life of Christ and the Holy Land.
·         Designed for use with the study guide and book.
·         Leader’s guide, promotional material, and retreat format included.

MY REVIEW:

I loved this study so much! If you are looking for something to utilize to draw you closer to the heart of God, this study is for you! I especially loved the DVD portion. I’m a visual learner and I love that this study included the video aspect. It really helps learners delve even deeper into the time and place this Bible story occurred.

The message this study really spoke to my heart is that God loved me, He wants me, He desires relationship with me- not because of my goodness, not because I’ve earned it but simply because He is Who He is.

The study can be done alone or in a group. Highly recommend!

Top 10 Bookish Resolutions for 2016

ttt

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
For future Top Ten Tuesday topics & info on how to participate, click here!

This week, we are all sharing our bookish resolutions for 2016!
Here are mine…
#10 USE MY E-READER MORE:
Now that I am a full-time college student and working a full-time job, time is of the essence! Reading books on my tablet is so much more convenient. Plus, I don’t have to tote around all those books everywhere I go and I can switch from one book to another with the click of a button! Why do I never use my e-reader!?! This year…I will!
#9 FINALLY FINISH THAT SERIES:
I am the world’s worst at this! I find a series I love and then I DO NOT FINISH THE SERIES. I’m not sure if it’s because I don’t what the story to end/ don’t want to be disappointed by the ending or if I’m just plain lazy!
#8 READ 16 BOOKS IN 2016:
Probably one of the lowest reading goals I have ever set for myself. However, I want to be realistic with my schedule and I feel like this is the right number for this year.
#7 READ WHAT “I” WANT TO READ:
Because my reading goal is low, I plan to be very picky this year about what books I read. I want my reading to be fun. I want to read what makes me happy, scared, inspired…whatever.
#6 POST AN UPDATE VIDEO ON MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND FIGURE OUT HOW TO POST REGULARLY:
It’s so sad y’all. I want to get back into making videos over at JoJo’s Corner
#5 WRITE:
In 2014 I completed my first novel through a competition with Harlequin called “Killer Voices”. I made it to the final round of competitions and had to submit my complete novel to my editor. While I was not offered a book contract at that time, she did send me some edits and asked me to resubmit. I did that and I haven’t heard back. This year, I want to contact my editor and see if this could really still be a possibility OR if I need to move on and start writing something fresh and new. Either way, publishing is a dream of mine and this year I want to make real progress in making this happen.
#4 UPDATE THE LOOK OF MY BOOK BLOG:
This one can already be marked off the list. I was wanting something new and fresh for 2016…what do y’all think?
#3 READ BOOKS I OWN BEFORE BUYING MORE:
My name is JoJo and I have a book-buying addiction. There are so many great books on my shelf at home and I really want to read more of those this year.  (FINGERS-CROSSED)
#2 WATCH MORE BOOK-TUBE:
Because, let’s be real…a resolution to watch less just isn’t going to happen, no matter how much it takes away from my own reading time.
#1 READ THROUGH THE ENTIRE BIBLE (AGAIN):
This is a goal I really like to set for myself. Sadly, many people who are Christians have never read the entire Bible. I was one of those people and the Lord really started convicting me about it. In as little as 15 minutes a day, I can read through all 66 books in 1 year. I’m excited about this goal!
WHAT ARE YOUR READING RESOLUTIONS FOR 2016???
