A HEART’S DISGUISE
Journey of the Heart: Book One
Colleen Coble
Fiction
Paperback, 102 Pages
March 2015 by Thomas Nelson

In the aftermath of the Civil War, a young woman searches for her lost love at the edge of the West.

The Civil War has destroyed Sarah Montgomery’s marriage before it’s even begun.
After Sarah receives word that her fiancé, Rand Campbell, has been killed fighting for the Union, her brothers and ailing father persuade her to pledge herself to Ben Croftner—despite her strong misgivings. But when Sarah finds out that Rand is in fact alive—and that Ben Croftner knew it—she indignantly breaks off the engagement and goes in search of Rand.
But Ben Croftner does not take rejection lightly—and a single woman with a sick father makes an easy target. When Sarah is abducted by her treacherous fiancé, Rand finally comes to her aid . . . only to reveal that he has been posted at Fort Laramie, Wyoming, and intends to take her there as his wife.
But could Sarah leave her dying father’s side for the love of her life? And what plans are forming in the jealous heart of Ben Croftner?

My Review

Some of the greatest stories are born from real life tragedies and hardships.
During a time of loss and grieving, RITA finalist Colleen Coble penned her first series…Journey of the Heart.
I’m so thrilled that the publisher has decided to revamp and release this series. Though I’ve only read the first installment, I’m already impressed.
In a short 100 pages, Coble has caused me to love these characters already and to care about what happens to them.
And while I will not give away any spoilers, I will tell you that in 100 short pages, I cried, I cringed and I cared. When a writer can cause so much emotion in such a short time- it is nothing short of magnificent!
A Heart’s Disguise is a wonderful reminder that while we don’t always understand why God allows things to happen the way they do, we can know that He always works all things together for good.
Book One ended with my heart aching for more, so I cannot wait to get my hands on Book Two.
If you are a fan of Janette Oke, Catherine Marshall and the like…definitely pick up this series- you will not be disappointed!
