I’m super excited to take part in the DESIGNED FOR RELATIONSHIP BLOG TOUR!!!
DESIGNED FOR RELATIONSHIP: Learning to Love God With All We Are
About the book: Mankind has always struggled with the big questions: Why are we here? What is life all about? The search for answers has led in many directions, not all of them helpful. In this age, we are inundated with information, but this flood of knowledge has not necessarily produced wisdom. We find answers to the really important questions as elusive as ever.
It really is all about relationship! This is the open secret, hidden in plain sight all along.
Excerpt: Even after I finally surrendered to His love and entered into a committed relationship with Him, I continued to wander. I continued to drink from other cisterns, to pursue other lovers. Like Gomer, God bought me back from my adulterous slavery again and again. He declared His undying love for me and welcomed me in. No matter how many times I strayed, He loved me and welcomed me home.
About the author: T.J. MacLeslie has been involved in a variety of Christian ministries since 1990, including pastoring, church planting, leadership development, prayer, and spiritual formation. He currently lives in the UK with his wife and two children where he leads a team focused on prayer and spiritual formation. You’ll often find him walking the fields with his dog, reading a book, or enjoying a warm cup of coffee.

It was the blurb that really sold me on this book, “Learning to Love God With All We Are” and the question posed in the synopsis, “Do you long for more?” Yes, well what Christian does not have a desire to love God with everything they are?!? I certainly do! So I was interested in what techniques, tips, or steps the author would offer in order to draw closer to God, to love Him more deeply. But as TJ clearly states in the introduction, there are no ‘3 keys’ or ‘7 Steps’, instead he chooses in this book to share lessons he has learned along the way.
I love to hear testimony of other people’s experience with God, so that immediately drew me to this book. I love to hear about their successes and failures, ups and downs and so on. Because in a lot of ways I can relate when I hear the stories. We all miss the mark, we all allow the hectic ness of life to get in the way of our walk with God. But one common fact we all share is the DESIRE to know God more and to love Him more….to be all He has called us to be.
Designed For Relationship is designed to pull readers back from the mundane into the miraculous, to go from mere lip service to God to whole-hearted devotion.
This book is divided into two parts…
RENEWING OUR VISION- encourages readers to see their relationship with God in a different light. I love that the author points out obstacles we may encounter on our quest to become more intimately acquainted with the Father.
BECOMING WHO WE ARE- this section digs deeper into what the author calls the “Five Circles”. He also shares stories from real people and expresses each point in a clear way.
Each chapter concludes with Discussion Questions that I thought were extremely relevant and applicable.
In the back of the book, the author also shares Additional Reading and Resources, Assessment Questions and Tools, The Five Circles Visual Aid and Devotional Exercises.
