The cover of Rosemary Cottage immediately captured my attention with its gorgeous summery sunset hues, the beach house and the woman walking up the path. The author captured my attention in the opening scene of the book (it’s an intense scene)! And I could not stop reading!
There are so many things that I love about this book…the beachy feel, the setting, the characters, the mystery of what happened to Amy’s brother Ben and what happened to Curtis’ sister, Gina, how these deaths are connected and whether Amy and Curtis will pull together to uncover the secrets of Hope Beach.
I liked the main characters from the beginning. Amy is a little sister on a mission! She’s sure that Ben’s death was no accident, though practically everyone on the island is sure it was. She received a strange letter that confirmed her suspicions, but everyone tells her that its probably just a prank.
I could feel Amy’s aggravation at feeling alone in uncovering the truth about what happened to her brother, but she was really not alone, because if anyone in the world could fully understand what Amy was feeling, it would be Curtis.
Curtis is raising his niece, Raine, but he is terrified that if the truth that Ben was Raine’s father comes out, he will lose her to Ben’s family (ie Amy). It sort of aggravated me that Curtis would keep Raine from Ben’s family, but in ways I could understand why he did what he did.
As secrets are revealed and even more mysterious things begin to happen, both Amy and Curtis feel that perhaps they didn’t know their siblings as well as they thought they did. The conclusion of the story blew me away!
I give ROSEMARY COTTAGE by Colleen Coble *****5/5 STARS*****
If you love stories of love and loss and mystery and suspense…don’t miss it!!!
Though this book is part of the Hope Beach collection that Colleen Coble is writing (book 1 is titled TIDEWATER INN), you can absolutely read this book as a stand alone. Although, Tidewater Inn as well as characters from Book 1 do show up in Rosemary Cottage.
